Sara Coates was kind enough to publish a wonderful pattern for machine knit slippers. I found them easy and very enjoyable to make .
Knitting away merrily I soon discovered I was halfway through my slipper and the TD (tension dial) was on the wrong setting. Disappointed with myself, but resolved to start over I dropped the slipper and proceeded to cast on with the correct TD setting. Glancing back at my "superman" slipper, my eye caught another picture -- a nice little baby hat. I picked up my slipper-transformed-into-a-baby-hat and looked at it like "where have you been all of my life!"
Well, here I go again hearing another God lesson about mistakes. MKing has really helped me to overcome the mindset that mistakes are all bad. Society, especially military (I'm an army brat) and schools are not very forgiving when it comes to mistakes. Mistakes can cost lives and missed opportunities for sure. But when it's all over are we not still forgiven? Is the Blood of Christ still effective and powerful to blot out transgressions? Then there is surely a lesson to learn that will transform that experience into a golden opportunity or doorway for teaching a lifelong lesson. Now I don't mean my MK oversight was a transgression -- it's not that deep!!
What about the guilty feelings that linger when we disappoint ourselves...ahah...there is the culprit. It isn't the act so much as the resulting mindset. I know I am forgiven, but those guilty feelings can work against what I know to be the Truth. After all, our soul (mind, will, and emotions) are governed by the Truth we know.
The victory is Eden has a wonderful new hat and I've written my first MK pattern! As soon as I figure out how to post the pattern, I will. In the meantime, you can find it in the hobbyknittersmachine group on yahoo in the group files. Enjoy!!
Welcome to Diamonds of Praise
I trust you will find some sort of inspiration, peace and enjoyment here. Be refreshed, enlightened, and encouraged!
"Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honorable, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things." Philippians 4:8 KJV
